The spirit of giving and receiving

This weekend many of you probably saw and laughed at the gifs about small business owners and what we do when you place an order …

We literally break into song and dance a la Carlton. In the spirit of Cyber Monday and my own Carlton-esque happy dance, I’m highlighting 10 women-owned businesses in Boise who have online shops. I have gotten to know and respect these women, and I hope this helps you get to know them, too. Their digital storefronts are open so you can safely and conveniently shop local for those on your list this holiday season and beyond. These are the people who leap for joy when you validate their heart’s work by making a purchase. Read all the way through for a special offer from me, too.

  • Bravo Foxtrot Designs - Brooke is a midwestern native like me, and her hand-lettered stickers, prints, ornaments, mugs and more make me wish my handwriting wasn’t completely illegible.

  • Jennie Kilcup - Jennie’s an Idaho native with a love for the outdoors that she depicts in beautiful watercolor prints and more. She’s not only talented but someone who truly lifts others up around her.

  • Shift Boutique - Kelsey and Megan are sisters who now own two clothing boutiques. Their store is my go-to for gifts and confidence boosts.

  • A Succulent Day - Plants are my favorite things to gift, and Martha’s shop makes it effortless. The hardest part is choosing from the amazing array of pots and plants.

  • Clay By Shay - I recently took a pottery class from Shay and have an entirely new appreciation for her craft. Her playful mugs and tasteful earrings make unique gifts that are small batch and low-impact.

  • La Las Fresh Pots - Kayla worked with me to create custom sets of dinnerware for my wedding. Her talent and style are consistently on point and the pieces I have of hers are my favorites.

  • Jewels Rug Shop - This store is new-to-me, but Jamie (like me!) lives in my neighborhood and I am so impressed by her spirit and eye for quality vintage textiles.

  • Lit & Co Candles - Kristen’s candles are all over my house. I light them when I need to relax, or focus or want to lift my mood. Her stores consistently support other local businesses, as well.

  • The Vervain Collective + Roots Zero Waste Market. The women behind Vervain and Roots are formidable. Dr. Nicole Pierce is the warm, intelligent light behind Vervain, while Lea is the hardworking, powerhouse behind Roots. These women are always open to answering questions about their stores, the products they carry and I feel so lucky to have them stewarding local support in our community.

To combine Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday, Gold Feather Gardens is offering 10% off our holiday shop to you, in addition to the 10% we’re donating to City of Good. This organization feeds the vulnerable populations in our community in a way that supports local restaurants and farmers. This is a buy-one-give-one discount, if you will. This offer only lasts today and tomorrow, so don’t delay. Use the code CYBERMONDAY.
