Tap to Plant
It’s the first week of May in Boise, and that means we’re getting ready to plant ALL the things. My garden is still firmly celebrating the cool season, but y’all know I’m still buying a few plants to sneak into my space here and there. If you’re feeling the itch to go plant shopping this week (and there are so many opportunities to do so!) I want you to know I’m here for you.
Many of you might have seen the gardens I planted for the cool season. It seems like magic when all you have to do is “tap to plant” and a gorgeous green garden appears right before your eyes. Before you hit the plant store, let me tell you, there’s a ton of planning and preparation that goes into that magic. If you’re heading out to plant shop without a plan, I hope you’ll heed this advice.
Make a planting plan
I’ve spent the last few months making planting plans for my clients and teaching others to do the same. I’d be happy to create a custom plan for you. Simply click the button below to schedule a consult. We’ll discuss what can grow in your space, how to amend the soil and I’ll send you a plant list for you to check off everything you want to grow. I’ll create a custom planting plan for you complete with a planting schedule and shopping list for plants and seeds. It’s that simple!
Make a shopping list
Already have a planting plan? Make a list of the seeds and plants you’re going to grow. Not sure what grows best from seeds or as a transplant? I’ve been offering free workshops all spring long to discuss just that. You can watch one at your leisure by clicking the link here.
Stick to the plan as best you can
Even I overbuy at the plant store! Just remember, you don’t need to plant everything all at once. In fact, it’s best to stagger your planting to extend and stagger your harvests. Otherwise, you’ll be swimming in tomatoes and peppers all at one time, versus enjoying them over the course of the season.
Again, this weekend marks the beginning plant-purchase-season in Boise. If you’d like help coming up with a plan, there’s a few spots left on my schedule. You can click the button below to book a consult and we can get you off to a good start together.
